Set to become the world’s busiest airport terminal, Instanbul Grand Airport will be located on the Black Sea coast and is scheduled for six-runway development. Grimshaw, Nordic Office of Architecture and Haptic Architects for Instanbul Grand Airport, recently released the details.
It is estimated that after the first of four phases is completed in 2018, the airport will serve approximately 90 million passengers per year, with that number shooting up to 150 million per year once all four phases are concluded.
What does this mean?
Quite simply, 150 million annual passengers will easily make Istanbul Grand Airport the world’s largest terminal under one roof!
According to Nordic, “The Istanbul Grand Airport will be a modern, highly functional airport, with a unique sense of space.”
Once complete, the airport’s floor will be close to one million meters. Grimshaw Architects say the airport will the become known as the gateway to Turkey with its unique design elements.
