Peter Besenyei, known as the godfather of the Red Bull Air Race, just became the first person to fly a plane through the Corinth Canal in Greece.
The Corinth Canal is only 70 feet wide but an incredible 4 miles long, making it understandable why no one was exactly lining up to attempt the daring feat Besenyei recently pulled off.
Besenyei used the same Zivko Edge 540 single-prop used in the air races to fly through the canal and I can’t blame him.
A 300 horsepower engine, 24-foot wingspan, and capability to cover 4,000 feet in under a minute, combined with being extremely agile, made the plane perfectly suited for zooming through the canal.
