Ryno Motors has managed to create a motorcycle with one 25-inch tire that actually feels safe thanks to gyroscope sensors and accelerometers. The microcycle can cruise up to 10 mph and uses the built-in sensors and accelerometers to balance itself, using intuitive braking and acceleration technology and strategic weight distribution.
Chris Hoffmann, the Ryno Motors CEO, was inspired by his teenage daughter years ago who asked him to build a one-wheeled motorcycle similar to one she had seen in a video game.
Much like a Segway or the new electric skateboard, Onewheel, the motorcycle is controlled by leaning forward, backward and side to side, utilizing the sensor-balanced wheel to adjust its position for optimal balance.
Features:
- Capable of handling up to a 20-percent grade
- Uses a 12-volt DC charges and charges in 6 hours
- 10 mph top speed
- LED headlights and light-up dash display
The motorcycle weighs 160 pounds, giving a strong, heavy and safe base to the user, which feels stuck to the ground when riding. Of the 160 pounds, the wheel and motor make up 140 pounds with the seat and frame being extremely lightweight.
Based out of Portland, Oregon, Ryno Motors will begin shipping pre-orders this April. It will reportedly cost around $4,200.
