The latest value reports from independent research body Consumer Reports have listed the Toyota Prius as the best value car currently on the market. Nissan Armada is considered the worst.
The gas-electric hybrid Prius, which reduces CO2 emissions, is still an expensive car but will save its owner money in the long-term because of its lower running costs. Consumer Reports’ findings reflect a greater demand for energy-efficient cars. It’s the second year in a row Prius has topped the list.
“The Prius’ 44 mpg overall is the best fuel economy of any non-plug-in car that Consumer Reports has tested,” said the report’s automotive editor Rik Paul in a statement. “Though it’s not particularly cheap to buy, the Prius’ depreciation is so low that it costs less to own over the first five years than its initial MSRP. We call that a bargain.”
Nissan’s Armada came in as the lowest value, running at $1.20 per mile, according to Consumer Reports, which called it “hefty”. This is compared to the Prius’ 47 cents per mile.
