The Verruckt Meg-A-Blaster in Kansas is under construction and being dubbed the world’s fastest and tallest water slide, blowing away the previous records held by a 164-foot high slide in Brazil. While the exact height of the Meg-A-Blaster will not be released until it opens, sources have guaranteed it will be the tallest water slide in the world by a large margin. Kansas City’s Schlitterbahn park will debut the new slide on May 23, 2014.
Verruckt is the German word for “insane” and this water slide is already starting to live up to its name. As you can see in the photo, the Verruckt Meg-A-Blaster appears to drop at a 90 degree angle towards the ground. After climbing 264 steps to the top, up to four riders will climb into a raft that will send them soaring down a 17-story drop at a whopping 65 mph. With safety being paramount, officials have assured the public that extensive testing will take place on all 600 feet of the slide before any thrill-seekers take the plunge downward.
Engineers have already tested scale models of the Verruckt Meg-A-Blaster, doing their best to ensure the slide is 100% safe. One thing is for sure. These engineers have a “tall” task ahead of them.
