You arrive at an event with plenty of time but still end up being late after wasting valuable time desperately looking for a parking space. However, Anagog app on your mobile phone can help you find a vacant parking spot.
A recent survey from the International Parking Institute found that cars spend most of their time in parking spaces. In fact, 30% of most city traffic is from drivers looking for a place to park. The survey also showed most cars are parked 90 percent of the time.
Israeli startup Anagog recently unveiled their automatic parking solution technology that could make such parking spot searches considerably shorter. Anagog is a provider of automatic parking solution technology.
The Anagog App uses users’ smartphones to identify where and when a car has been parked and detects on-street parking spots that are about to be vacated on real time basis. No additional hardware is needed to be installed in the existing infrastructure. This application is completely automatic and works without affecting the functionality of your smartphone.
The Anagog technology collects data from mobile devices by monitoring the phone sensors to determine the mobility status of the users. It not only shows the recently opened parking spot but it can also tip them off that the spot is about to open since it also notes when the users are walking back to the location of their cars.
To use this system, a user accesses the Anagog app upon approaching the destination. A street map gets displayed on the user’s smartphone screen with the locations of vacated or about-to-be vacated parking spots.
The system can only show the parking spaces left by other Anagog users and not all the parking spaces available. Even with this limitation, the idea is still far better than driving around in circles in hopes of finding a vacant spot. The chances of finding vacant parking spot will keep increasing with more and more people using the system.
So far, Anagog’s algorithm has been tested in Israel only but it’s in the process of being rolled out in Europe and the United States as well.
