The largest single sale of United States weaponry in 2014 is going to… Qatar?
Yep! That’s right. A country with a population under 300,000 people is purchasing $11 billion in Patriot missile batteries and Apache attack helicopters in order to help protect itself from all the chaos going on in the region.
The Patriot missiles Qatar purchased are intense to say the least, generally regarded as the most advanced projectile in their niche and capable of destroying enemy tanks and planes while also having the ability to intercept incoming missiles.
The huge arms deal makes sense for the United States as Qatar is one of the most reliable American partners in the Middle East and is also home to an extremely important U.S. military base, Al Udeid Air Base.
