The United States has agreed to sell $600 million worth of tank ammunition manufactured by General Dynamics Corp to the Iraqi government in an effort to bolster the country’s ground defense capability.
While it would be highly unlikely in an arms deal of this magnitude, Congress does have 30 days to reject the sale of 10,000 M831 120m, high-explosive anti-tank munitions, 10,000 M865 120mm kinetic energy warheads and 26,000 other munitions, in addition to logistics services.
The United State military would welcome the deal as strengthening the Iraqi government would help them in their mission to resist extremists currently terrorizing the Middle East.
