First-half sales for Lego topped Barbie doll-maker Mattel this month, vaulting Lego into the top spot as the biggest toy maker in the world!
Lego’s first half success was boosted by the Lego Movie and its product line, contributing to the 11% sales increase to $2.03 billion.
As Mattel’s Barbie line continues to fade, Lego is pushing to grow the company’s market in Asia.
“China saw the most significant growth in consumer sales in the region by more than 50%,” Lego said.
Mattel recently purchased Lego competitor Mega brands, a maker of plastic building blocks, for $460 million in an effort to keep up with Lego’s growing sales.
