How a Tiny Box Makes Your Home Smarter, More Energy Efficient

By: | October 29th, 2013

How many times have you forgotten you left an appliance running? Vancouver’s Neurio knows exactly what that’s like, which is why the company is developing a smart house.

Using its home intelligence™ and Wi-Fi powered sensor, the Neurio and its accompanying app Wattson monitor your home’s appliances, lights and other electrical objects and keeps you reminded about when they are running or when they need to be turned off. Leave your stove on when you left for work? Neurio knows. Is your morning coffee ready? Neurio will tell you.

The Neurio sensor is placed in your electrical breaker panel and keeps a tab on each electrical appliance. The sensor is intuitive so as it learns more and more about how you use electricity in each room, it will ultimately save on energy and money.

Neurio makes a normal home smart, according to the designers. It allows you to do with Neurio what you please, tailoring it to your needs in the home. It is an open platform with a public API (application programming interface) that allows users to write their own applications and use it as they see fit.
