Are you tired of using two hands to perform simple, every day tasks?
If you answered yes, luckily for you, students at MIT have developed a solution to these two-handed headaches with the new 7 Finger Robot.
The robot basically adds two long fingers to the human hand, greatly increasing the functionality and number of tasks you can perform with only one hand.
A mechanical engineering graduate student at MIT, Faye Wu, says in the video below that the fingers take “the input from a sensor glove… that can measure the position of the human fingers.”
Then by utilizing an algorithm and sensors, the robotic hand intuitively controls the positions of the fingers to make it easier to perform a wide range of tasks.
The main goal behind the 7 Finger Robot is to help people with disabilities or even the elderly become more independent as the robotic hand will make life much more enjoyable over time.
